I have the same problem. I want jpegs so i can have cool wallpapers. Also how can i make the sheep in better quality because i notice it's not so great. I'm new at this so explain carefully please

Just let it run enough and it

Just let it run enough and it should start rendering sheep. I think it has to run for at least an hour before it will start rendering a frame. Frames may take a while to render based on resolution and your CPU power. You can't really improve the quality of the sheep that are played as the screen saver, however I've noticed most of my rendered frames are in 1080p as opposed to the lower resolution of the frames of the sheep that actually make it to the screen saver.

The full HD sheep are for

The full HD sheep are for spot's private projects, not for the screensaver. The video quality is low because otherwise the bandwidth of the download server (and the server itself) would be impossible to pay. As I understand there's no way to make your video playback higher quality I'm afraid.

do you mean you would prefer

do you mean you would prefer the screensaver to show still images from the content/jpg folder instead of the animated sheep?

What he means..

I think he is trying to say that his ES isn't rendering any frames.

Are you sure you set it to 'save' the renders? by default, it does not, I believe.

Sometimes the screensaver

Sometimes the screensaver just...doesn't render, in all my time using it, which is about half a year actively, I only rendered 200-something frames.

Creating a high-quality, high-res image from a sheep is quite a hassle, I'll to to explain the best I can. (Beware this could get long)

The "sheep" or video's playing are originally made of hundreds of thousands of images pieced together. One of those images is what you're after.

ES uses a special program to create these images, called the flam3 renderer. What it does is it creates a series of images from some code, that code is stored in a .flame file. This .flame file is what you need to create the images for yourself in higher quality.

Fortunately getting the file is easy, go to the flock of sheep (just another word for the collection) stored on the server, located here (http://www.electricsheep.org/archive/) Then select a flock (there is only one at the time of this writing, flock 243). Once inside there, pick an image you like and click it, you will be taking to it's "private page". In the bar above the big image (which is still too small and too grainy for a proper background as you will see) click on the genome button. DONE, the text you are looking at now is the .flame file you need! Copy all of it, paste it in notepad, and save it as a .flame file (make sure you don't save a .flame.txt by accident).

Now on to the second part, download apophysis (http://www.apophysis.org/downloads.html) Get version 2.02 for now, and install it. Then download the newer beta here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/apophysis/), it needs 2.02 to be installed first to work.

Now run the version 2.09 (or newer in the future). After a few seconds you will see an image appear in the black square, this is an image generated from a code just like the one you just saved. Now open the .flame file you saved somewhere with apophysis, the image you want should appear in the black part now, if it doesn't, check that there is no excess writing before the code starts and after it ends (you can tell by the html tags, can't type them here since they are filtered out)

Now then, you're all set to get your image. Go to file>export flame. A dialog window will pop up now. First pick where you want your background to be saved. Then change the width and height to your monitor settings, and change the quality to something between 2000 and 5000, any higher and you will not notice much, creating the image will just take longer. Leave the filter radius alone, what it does is blur the image slightly to hide some inconsistencies, set it too high and it will not look good at all. Oversample does nothing more than rendering the same image more than one time, and average out the differences (since the image will be different a slight bit each time it is made).

Now at last, you're all set, hit OK and wait. The rendering can take ages depending on resolution and quality, and cpu speed. Dual and quad-cores are supported so it should help if you have one. When it is done find your image and bask in it's glory :P

Wow I wrote a lot more than I thought...also took an hour, this better help you out lol

Does this mean the Jpeg folder stays empty at all times?

Sorry but wanted to make sure, I recently got this Screensaver after seeing it at my cousins - really very nice project!! !

So my ES was running and when pressing F3 and it tells me I have 2 frames rendered, ... is there a way to find them?

Or does the jpeg folder stay empty at all times? ;)

Also thx to Darkslave - interesting.

make sure you have the most

make sure you have the most recent version (b33) and make sure that "keep rendered frames" is checked.
