Mountain Lion compatibility

I just wanted to check if anyone has tried running this under Mountain Lion yet. I'm going to upgrade soon, and hope that my favorite screen saver will make the jump.

Crashing system prefs on Mountain Lion

Hi

I just (finally) made it to Mountain Lion and seem to be having trouble - i set the sys/pref to allow apps from everywhere (not ideal obviously) but when i try and select ES in the sys/prefs screensaver list it quits prefs without any sort of error or notice.

This is using electricsheep-2.7b34.dmg downloaded today, and Mac OS 10.8.3.

Console output follows below, HTH

Hello jonny,does the crash

Hello jonny,

does the crash generates crash log? You can look for it using Console application and in the left list under "Files" you should see CrashReporter. Inside that there should be something like "System Preferences_..." with date of the last crash. On the disk they are stored in /Users/<your user>/Library/Logs/CrashReporter.

Also what happens when you run the standalone application? /Applications/Electric Sheep.app. Does it crash as well? Do you have crash report for that? Again as above, but named "Electric Sheep_...".

They could be very helpful for seeing what can be wrong. I use ES on 10.8 all the time and have no problem so far. You can as well try to remove/zip temporarily the ElectricSheep folder inside /Users/<your user>/Library/Application Support and see if it helps. If yes, there can be corrupted video file or something.

The Library folder is accessible by going to Go menu in Finder while holding Alt key, you should then see "Library" item in the Go menu.

You can send me the reports (if any) or any other info to my email address dasvo [at] planeta [dot] cz. I'll check them out.

Thanks,

Daniel

I finished my tests of the

I finished my tests of the last version of ES (2.7b34) on Mountain Lion (10.8) and found no obvious issues. On my machines it works as expected. Spot have some reported screen lock ups, but they must be machine specific and maybe even not problem in Electric Sheep. When I'll get as much information as needed from these users to fix the reported problems there will be new version.

The only problem we have is unsigned installer, so on 10.8 you need to allow unsigned applications to be able to run (You can do it in System Preferences > Security... panel), otherwise the launch of the installer will be refused. This needs to be fixed, but it is not related to the actual screen saver launch.

Hope this helps,

Daniel

one person reported a freeze,

one person reported a freeze, another reported a crash.  but i would guess many people have installed it by now so i think your chances are good.  i have not upgraded yet i wait until the bugs get fixed...
